For my whole life, bra shopping has been a frustrating (if not completely demoralizing) experience. Having an athletic body with practically no boobs--but a large and flared ribcage to accommodate--sizing has always been an impossible issue for me. To get small enough cups I’d go down a band size and end up either feeling like I’m being squeezed to death or use those bra-back extenders that mess up the strap placement. Sizing up to the next band so I don’t suffocate, the seemingly monstrous cups just look and feel silly on my very flat chest. Combined with my experience that most “push up” bras are intended for those who actually have something to push up, that padded bras often have that awfully unnatural shelf/gaping (on me) and intense underwire support my tiny girls don’t need, and that generic petite bras seem built for women with overall smaller frames and slim ribcages, I had pretty much given up on ever finding something that was right for me.
Enter the Lula Lu Lightly Padded Push Up Bra, which I bought on a lark, not expecting any miracles. However, after 10 years of searching for a bra that fits and flatters, I’ve finally found “the one”! PERFECT everyday bra—I can move and breathe and feel comfortable with the larger band, while the smaller cups (actually placed wide enough apart for me) provide just enough padding where I don’t feel like a boy but also am not walking around with fake balloons attached to my chest. Anyone reading this who has had trouble finding a bra that fits due to large ribs and tiny breasts (the struggle is real), I HIGHLY recommend giving this a try. Thank you Lula Lu for finally allowing me to not feel like a freak!
(ICYW- I’m 5’ 6”, 107 lbs, w/broad shoulders and back, and massive flared rib cage. I went with a 36AA for comfort even though technically my band should be 34, and I could not be happier!)
